Hamilton Earns MASCAC Honors
Owls junior Brendon Hamilton pulls down consecutive double-doubles in route to MASCAC Player of the Week
Westfield, Mass. – Westfield State junior forward Brendon Hamilton (Worcester, Mass.) earned the MASCAC Player of the Week after logging consecutive double-doubles in the Rick Martin/Hampton Inn Tournament this weekend at the Woodward Center in Westfield, Mass. Hamilton averaged 25 points and 17.5 rebounds while shooting 63 percent from the floor and 86 percent from the foul line in victories over Northern Vermont University- Lyndon and William Paterson University.
In the opening game against Northern Vermont- Lyndon on Friday, Hamilton recorded 18 points and 13 rebounds as the Owls plowed through the Hornets 110-76.
In the championship game against William Paterson on Saturday, Hamilton posted a career high in points (32) and rebounds (22) as the Owls would put up a record 65 points in the second half to defeat William Paterson 96-79. Hamilton was named the tournament MVP for the monstrous weekend performance.
The 22-rebound total bumped his season rebound average up to 15.8 per game, which is currently third in the nation. On the season, Hamilton is averaging 15.3 points, 15.8 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks per game.
Westfield State, who has opened the season with two tournament championships, will host Western New England tomorrow at 7:30 from the Woodward Center in Westfield, Mass.
