Owl Women Fourth at Corsair Classic

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State women's track and field got several winning efforts on Saturday as the Owls placed fourth at the Corsair Classic meet at UMass Dartmouth.
Westfield finished with 88 points in the meet, which featured 14 scoring teams.WPI won the team titele followed by Springfield, Eastern Connecticut and the Owls.
Westfield's Devin Whalen won the 100 hurdles in 16.31 seconds, with Paola Quinones Ramos fourth and Eliza Lee fifth.
Eliza Lee topped the long jump with a mark of 5.31 meters (17'-5").
Bronwyn Pinsly took home top honors in the discus with a toss of 35.98 meters (118').
Other top efforts for the Owls included Julianne Kelly placing second in the 3000 steeplechase with a time of 12:05.94, and Reese Stevens took second in the 1500, stopping the clock in 4:58.82 with Tealei Chandonnet third and Shea Hamel fifth helping the Owls to score 19 points in the event.
In the 4x100 relay, Westfield State's unit placed third as Whalen, Lee, Delaney Parker, and Jailene Felix went round in 51.82 seconds.
The Owls will be back on track next Saturday for the Coast Guard Academy Invitational in New London, Conn.
