Shea, Nekitopouos, Sylven Post Wins at Corsair Classic
Westfield will return to action next Saturday for the Coast Guard Academy Invitational in New London, Conn.
Danny Shea, John Nekitopoulos and Nate Sylven all won events to highlight the Westfield State University's men's track and field team's performance at the Corsair Classic meet at UMass Dartmouth on Saturday.
The Owl men placed fifth among 12 scoring teams with 70 points. WPI won the meet decisively with a score of 206.
Danny Shea won the long jump with a leap of 6.51 meters , with teammate Brandon Paquette fourth with 6.24 meters.
Nate Sylven came home first in the steeplechase with a time of 9:46.67, and John Nekitopoulos won the 1500 meters in 4:04.56.
Other strong performances for the Owls came from Will Buckley, who was second in the 10,000 meters in a time of 33:25, with Jarrod Ledvina in third in 34:19.
Devan Cerone was fourth in the triple jump 11.97 meters.
