After the conclusion of the winter sports season, Westfield State University Athletics continues to hold the top spot in the 2024-25 Howard C. Smith Cup standings, awarded annually to the institution with the best overall athletics program in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Football Places Three on All-Conference Teams

The Owls placed senior DL Cade Nelson (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and FB Dylan Disabella (Granby, Conn.) on the first team, and first-year DB Andrew Lovell (Barnstable, Mass.) was named as the Co-Defensive Rookie of the Year.

Westfield State senior running back Dylan Disabella (Granby, Conn.) punctuated the Owls’ senior day with 241 yards rushing and three TD’s to power Westfield to a 22-7 win over Fitchburg State on Saturday at Alumni Field.

Football Falls to #18 UMass-Dartmouth

Westfield State’s Dylan Disabella (Granby, Conn.) ran for a game-high 152 yards and a touchdown, but the Owls were swamped by #18 UMass Dartmouth, 56-14 in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference game at Alumni Field on Saturday afternoon.
