Owls Compete at Coast Guard

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State junior Eliza Lee won the long jump to highlight the Owls women's track and field performances on a cold and rainy day at the Coast Guard Invitational meet in New London, Conn. on Saturday.
Lee leapt 5.42 meters (17'-9.5") in her winning effort. She added a second in the triple jump with a hop, skip and jump of 11.06 meters.
Bronwyn Pinsly placed second in the discus throw with a best mark of 35.22 meters.
Tealei Chandonnet took third in the 5000 meters with a time of 18:18.44. Teammate Shea Hamel was ninth in a big field of 27 runners.
Delaney Parker took fifth in the 100 meters 13.14, and added eighth in the long jump at 4.73 meters.
Westfield finished ninth in the team scoring among 13 teams. The Owls will host their home meet, the Jerry Gravel Invitational, next Saturday, April 12. Select Owls athletes will also compete at the Silfen Invitational at Connecticut College on Friday, April 11.
