Women’s Cross Country Places Fourth at Trinity Invitational
After a team victory at the Owls season-opening meet at Keene State, women’s cross country posted a strong fourth place showing at the Trinity College Invite on Saturday afternoon.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – After a team victory at the Owls season-opening meet at Keene State, women's cross country posted a strong fourth place showing at the Trinity College Invite on Saturday afternoon.
The Owls compiled 123 points on the meet, staying clear of Clark University and Springfield College which finished fifth and sixth respectively. A total of 11 teams competed at the meet.
Shea Hamel (Longmeadow, Mass.) crossed the tape first for Westfield in 17th place overall, registering a time of 20:17.40 to serve as a 35 second course personal record. Tealei Chandonnet (Dracut, Mass.) delivered a top-20 outing for the Owls with a finishing time of 20:45.10 while also shattering her prior course PR by three minutes and 30 seconds.
Julianne Kelly (Natick, Mass.) and Molly Kennedy (West Springfield, Mass.) both logged top-30 placements on the meet as both athletes also set course personal records.
Connecticut College won the meet with 45 points followed by Coast Guard (68 points) and host Trinity (101 points) in the top three. Ruby Krasnow (Huntsville, Ala.) of Clark won the individual meet at a time of 19:13.90.
Westfield State will have a week off before preparing for the UMass Dartmouth Invitational from North Dartmouth, Mass. on Saturday, September 21.
