Hamilton, Teng Named to Conference Weekly Honors
Westfield State junior forward Brendon Hamilton earns the MASCAC Player of the Week while sophomore Kuany Teng receives conference Rookie of the Week.
WESTFIELD, Mass.- Westfield State University's Brendon Hamilton (Worcester, Mass.) earned player of the week honors in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference.
The tournament MVP averaged 10.5 points, 20 rebounds, two assists and a block, leading the Owls to a 2-0 week and their second straight MASCAC title.
His semifinal stat line consisted of five points, 14 rebounds, two assists and two blocks.
Hamilton gobbled up 26 rebounds complimented by 16 points, two assists and a steal in the championship game.
The junior forward leads Division III with 14.8 rebounds per game.
Sophomore Kuany Teng (Manchester, N.H.) earned Rookie of the Week honors after his efforts in the MASCAC tournament playoffs.
Teng averaged 18.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, two assists and 1.5 steals on the week.
Kuany was red-hot in the semifinal win over Fitchburg, draining 6-8 three pointers for a game high 30 points. He also recorded two rebounds, two assists, and two steals in that game.
He chipped into the championship victory with seven points, three rebounds, two assists, a steal and a block.
Westfield State received the league's automatic bid and will advance into the NCAA tournament to play a first round match-up against Nazareth College on Friday at 6:05 P.M. from Nazareth College in Rochester, N.Y.
