WESTFIELD, Mass. –   Westfield State senior guard Jauch Green, Jr. (Hartford, Conn./Cromwell) scored 25 points, including the 1,500th of his career, as the Owls posted a 90-80 men's basketball win over non-conference foe Wheaton College at the Emerson Gym in Norton, Mass. on Sunday.
The Owls sprinted out to a 19-9 lead early and held the Lyons at arm's length for the rest of the game, as Wheaton never got closer than four points.
Green topped the 1,500-point mark for his collegiate career with a layup late in the first half.   A transfer from Western Connecticut, Green is in his second year with the Owls and now has 841 points in his two seasons at Westfield State, and 1,515 total.
He finished 7-17 from the floor and 11-14 from the foul line, and added seven rebounds, six assists and four steals in a strong all-around game.  Marcus Collins (Cambridge, Mass.) added 16 points and eight rebounds for the Owls, and Malik Pouncy (Mattapan, Mass./Springfield Commonwealth Academy) added 16 with four three pointers.  Vawn Lord (West Springfield, Mass./Amherst) chipped in with 10 points and eight rebounds.
