Women's Basketball Falls to Colby In Delorenzo Tournament Championship Game
A slow start doomed the Westfield State women’s basketball team on Sunday, falling 85-49 to host Colby College in the championship game of the Gene Delorenzo Tournament in Waterville, Maine.

A slow start doomed the Westfield State women's basketball team on Sunday, falling 85-49 to host Colby College in the championship game of the Gene Delorenzo Tournament in Waterville, Maine.
The White Mules outscored the Owls 24-6 in the opening quarter. Westfield shot just 2-17 from the floor in the first ten minutes, and missed 14 straight shots from the floor in one stretch in the first half to fall behind 32-6.
The Owls finished the game shooting 3-34 from behind the three-point line, and just 20.8 percent (16-77) from the floor overall.
Jordan Grant led the Owls with 14 points and four rebounds, with Maddie Pond adding 10 points, five rebounds and five steals.
Colby was led by 20 points from Ana Von Rumohr. Amelia Hanscom grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds. The Mules out-rebounded the Owls, 59-33 in the game.
Westfield dips to 2-1 with the loss, while Colby is now 2-0.
The Owls will play at Mount Holyoke College on Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 7:00 p.m.
