WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State senior Coleby Andrade (Falmouth, Mass.) and sophomore goalkeeper Luke Theroux (Chicopee, Mass.) both achieved Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference weekly honors this past week after the Owls won their first MASCAC Championship title since 2012.
Andrade was named the MASCAC Offensive Player of the Week after he scored twice to help guide the Owls to the MASCAC Championship game after a 4-2 win over Fitchburg State in the conference semifinals. Andrade was then named the MASCAC Tournament MVP as part of a 2-0 win over Salem State in the league title game.
Westfield enters the NCAA Tournament with Andrade as the team's top goal scorer as the senior forward has netted six goals and added three assists for a team-high 15 points this season.
Theroux was named the MASCAC Defensive Player of the Week in part to his efforts in the MASCAC Championship game where he recorded a six-save shutout over the Vikings for his fifth shutout of the season. Over the two playoff games, Theroux generated a 1.00 GAA with an .833 save percentage.
On the season, Theroux has been a workhorse in net for the Owls, playing in 16 of 20 games for Westfield where he has logged an 8-4-4 record with a 1.26 goals against average and an .804 save percentage across 1281:46 minutes.
