WESTFIELD, Mass.    – Westfield State senior forward Eric Johnson (Houston, Tex./Fort Bend Travis HS) was named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference player of the week for his performance last week in the Owls' 91-76 win over John Jay College.

Johnson set a career-best with 17 points, and grabbed nine rebounds with two assists and two blocks in the win.   He was highly-efficient on the offensive end, shooting 5-6 from the floor and making all seven of his free throw attempts in 37 minutes of play against the Bloodhounds.

Johnson has started 12 of 13 games for the Owls this season, and is averaging 5.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.5 blocks and 1.1 assists per game.

The 6-7, 200-lb. post player helped the Owls to a 10-3 start to the season.  Westfield gets into conference play this week, hosting Framingham State on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
