Hamilton Named to D3hoops.com All-Region Second Team
Junior Brandon Hamilton earns second team nomination on the D3hoop.com 2022 Men’s All Region 1 Team
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State junior forward Brendon Hamilton (Worcester, Mass.) earned a second team nomination in the D3hoops.com 2022 Men's All Region 1 Team as selected by the Sports Information Directors at various schools.
Hamilton adds the All-Region recognition after securing the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year along with being named to the MASCAC All-Conference First Team.
He finished the season ranked second in Division III in rebounds per game, averaging 14.6 per game, while also leading the Owls in scoring at 15.0 points per contest. Hamilton set the single-season rebound record this year at Westfield State, piling up 393 rebounds to pass Russell Thompson who recorded 354 rebounds in 1987. The junior forward is also climbing the ranks in career blocks and rebounds per game, registering 94 blocks in two seasons to position himself fifth all-time. His career average of 11.0 rebounds per game is good for fourth in school history.
Hamilton had one of his most dominant performances of the season in the MASCAC Championship game, where he pulled down a career-high 26 rebounds (with a career-high eight offensive rebounds) while also scoring 16 points to lead the Owls to their third MASCAC title. He was named the Tournament MVP for his performance. The double-double was Hamilton's fourteenth on the season in 26 games.
Westfield State advanced into the NCAA Tournament, where the Owls fell in a tightly contested match-up to Nazareth College by a score of 78-71.
