WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State University graduate student diver Kara Banagan (Niskayuna, N.Y.) captured fourth place in the women's 3-meter diving event to open the 2025 Little East Conference swimming and diving championship meet at Babson College on Thursday evening.
Banagan posted scores of 162.50 in the prelims and 194.05 for a total of 356.55.
Bridgewater's Cailey Simard won the title with a score of 485.35.
Banagan is wrapping up her fourth year of competition for the Owls after missing her freshman season due to the pandemic cancellations. She earned the league's Rookie Diver of the Year award in 2022, when she won the 3-meter competition. She was second on the 3-meter board in 2023, and has also competed as an all-region goaltender on the Owls women's lacrosse team during the spring season, and previously was part of the Owls cheer team.
Banagan still has the 1-meter diving competition later this weekend, as the LEC meet continues with the action moving to the Boston Sports Institute pool in Wellesley, Mass.
