WESTFIELD, Mass. — The Westfield State women's swimming and diving team are off to compete at the Little East Championship meet this weekend from February 13 until February 16.
Three-meter diving will kickstart the four-day event schedule and will be held at Babson College beginning at 6:00 P.M. The remaining three days will take place at the Boston Sports Institute in Wellesley, Mass., including the one-meter diving and swimming events.
At last year's meet, the Owls finished in fifth of ten total teams with multiple top five finishes in events. Allyson Linkenhoker (Monson, Mass.) and Jackie Roccabruna (Pittsfield, Mass.) headlined last year's competition for Westfield. Linkenhoker had a strong day one with a second place finish in the 200-meter backstroke with a time of 2:16.59, while Roccabruna turned in a second place finish on day two in 200-meter freestyle and a fourth place finish in the 100-meter freestyle on day three.
Westfield State finished up their regular season campaign two weeks ago with their senior day on Saturday, February 1. In the dual meet against Western New England and University of New England, the Owls split with a 129-98 win over WNE and a 191-61 setback at the hands of UNE. Olivia Harkins (Woburn, Mass.) conquered the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:25.88 and Alexa Richter (Westfield, Mass.) won the 50 freestyle by a time of 26.00 seconds even.
