WESTFIELD, Mass. – Sophomore Mitch Maslowski (Berlin, Conn.) ran 21.79 in winning the 200 meter dash, a time that has him inside the top 20 in the nation, in helping to lead the Owls to a win in their Jerry Gravel Invitational meet at the Gravel Track on Saturday.

Maslowski's time is good for 17th in the nation, pending other results from this weekend.  He also placed second in the 400 meters in 49.35, and ran a leg of the Owls' winning 4x100 relay that posted a time of 43.27 seconds.

The Owls also got a winning effort from senior Tim Croteau (North Kingstown, R.I.) in the hammer throw, with a personal best toss of 46.85 meters (153-08).

Other event winners for the Owl men included Zac Bentley (Taunton/Acushnet, Mass.), who bested the 800 field in 1:59.64 and anchored Westfield's 4x400 unit which capped the meet with a win in a time of 3:33.88.  Brandon Leclair (Wamogo/Goshen, Conn.) hit the wire first in the 5,000 in 16:05.11, and Riley Moore (Wachussett/ Holden, Mass.) cleared 3.80m (12'-5") in the pole vault to win the event.

Owen Ortiz (Turners Falls/Greenfield, Mass.) scored points in the long jump, triple jump and 100 for the Owls as well.

The Owls topped the meet with 69 points, outdistancing Utica (NY) (50),  Bridgewater State (50), and UMass Dartmouth (34) among complete scoring teams

The Owls will be back in action next Saturday at the Springfield College Invitational Meet.
