WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State University's men's and women's basketball teams tip off the conference season on Saturday, January 11 as the Owls play host to Framingham State University in a doubleheader at the Woodward Center.
The women's game tips off at noon, with the men slated to follow at 2:00 p.m.
The Westfield State men are 8-5 on the season. The Owls are averaging more than 80 points per game on offense, with a balanced scoring attack that features four players in double figures.
Senior guard Jauch Green, Jr. (Hartford, Conn./Cromwell) leads the club at 19.2 points per game, Vawn Lord (West Springfield, Mass./Amherst) adds 16.1 ppg, and senior forward Marcus Collins (Cambridge, Mass./Rindge and Latin) and junior guard Malik Pouncy (Mattapan, Mass./ Springfield Commonwealth Acad.) each contribute better than 10 points per game.
The Framingham men come in with a 1-11 overall record. Junior forwards Cameren McCloud Thomas and Tyri Hampton lead the Rams in scoring at 12.1 and 10.9 ppg respectively.
