Owl Trio Earns MASCAC Weekly Honors
Westfield State field hockey swept the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference weekly awards on Monday, as forward Sadie Stauffer, defender Jordan Conrad, and first year Annalise Lopes were all recognized for their efforts in the season-opening Caryl Newhof Classic tournament at Smith College.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State field hockey swept the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference weekly awards on Monday, as forward Sadie Stauffer, defender Jordan Conrad, and first year Annalise Lopes were all recognized for their efforts in the season-opening Caryl Newhof Classic tournament at Smith College.
Stauffer (Suffield, Conn.) knocked home a pair of goals, including the game-winner, as the Owls topped Nichols College by a 4-1 score in the consolation final.
Conrad (Worcester, Mass./Nichols) played a key role in the Owls back line in the 4-1 win over Nichols, and was named to the all-tournament team for her efforts.
Lopes (Plymouth, Mass./North) netted her first collegiate goal late in the Owls loss to Ohio Welseyan University in the first-round game on Friday.
Westfield emerged from the weekend with a 1-1 overall record. The Owls will play their home opener on Saturday, hosting UMass-Dartmouth at Noon on Alumni Field.
