Crowley Named MASCAC Player of the Week

WESTFIELD, Mass. –  Westfield State sophomore Shawna Crowley (Billerica, Mass.) added Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference women's volleyball player of the week honors, as sponsored by Geico to her big week.

Crowley was previously named the MVP of the MASCAC tournament after leading the Owls to the title with 18 kills and 15 digs in the championship game, a 3-1 Owls win over Framingham State.

She also rapped out nine kills and had eight digs in a 3-0 Westfield win over MCLA in the semifinals.

Crowley is the fourth different member of the conference champion Owls to win the weekly award this season. Teammates Ally Rega, Brianna Starkey, and Lizzie Taylor all were selected earlier in the season.

Crowley will lead the Owls (14-16) into the NCAA Division III Tournament next weekend, Westfield will travel to Potsdam, N.Y. to play host Clarkson University on Friday night at 8:00 p.m. on the opening day of a three-day, eight-team, single-elimination regional.
