Owls Swimming Fifth at Seven Sisters Meet

Westfield finished fifth in the meet in their first meet of the second semester. Smith won the meet with a score if 1140, followed by Wellesley, Mount Holyoke, Simmons, and the Owls with 291 points.
Banagan placed third in the 1-meter diving with a score of 269.35 points.
Alexa Richter took third in the 1650-yard freestyle. Swimming the event for the first time, she clicked off a time of 19:38.73
Westfield's Jackie Roccabruna finished 11th in a 23-competitor field in the 100 freestyle in 28.86.
Westfield placed fourth in the 400 free relay to close the meet, as the quartet of Richter, Brooklyn Jones (Oklahoma City, Okla.), Katie Colby (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and Roccabruna swam 4:03.36.
Westfield also got personal-best times from Andrea Mattson in the 100 free, and Brooke Castellano (Auburn, Mass.) in the 200 backstroke.
The Seven Sisters meet is named after the group of seven private liberal arts colleges in the Northeastern United States that are historically women's colleges. Meet host Mount Holyoke, Barnard College, Bryn Mawr College, Smith College, Wellesley College, Vassar College and Radcliffe College formed the original "Seven Sisters" group.
Westfield State will host their final home meet of the season on Saturday, Feb. 1 at the Ely Pool, hosting Western Nee England College and the University of New England.
