DeMaio's Offensive Surge Earns Player of the Week Honors
Westfield State senior attacker Natalie DeMaio (Westwood, Mass.) has been named the MASCAC Offensive Player of the Week following standout performances throughout the week that helped lead the Owls to a 2-1 record.
WESTFIELD, Mass. –Westfield State senior attacker Natalie DeMaio (Westwood, Mass.) has been named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week following standout performances throughout the week that helped lead the Owls to a 2-1 record.
DeMaio tallied 14 goals and four assists for a total of 18 points across three games. Her offensive prowess was complemented by an impressive defensive showing, adding five ground balls, four caused turnovers, and three draw controls to her stat line.
The senior's strong week began with a dominant performance against Johnson Wales, where she netted six goals and sparked the Owls' offensive attack. She followed that up with another stellar outing in a 20-9 victory over Western New England, scoring five goals and continuing her scoring streak. Even in a challenging match against #16-ranked Amherst, DeMaio remained a force, contributing three goals and two assists.
With her impressive performances, DeMaio reached a significant career milestone, surpassing 200 career points and moving into sixth place on the Owls' all-time scoring list. Her leadership and offensive capabilities have been instrumental in the team's success this season.
DeMaio will be on record watch for the remainder of the season as Westfield State women's lacrosse will look to build on this momentum in their upcoming matches. Westfield State returns to action Wednesday when they host Connecticut College at 7:00 P.M. at Alumni Field.
