Gardner, Pond Named to 2024-25 Academic All-District Women's Basketball Team
Women’s basketball seniors’ Jess Gardner and Maddie Pond were named to the 2024-25 Academic All-District Women's Basketball Team, selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC).
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Two Westfield State women's basketball student-athletes have been named to the 2024-25 Academic All-District Women's Basketball Team, selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC). Senior guard Maddie Pond (Holyoke, Mass.) and senior forward Jess Gardner (Webster, Mass.) were both recognized for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
Pond and Gardner both finished tied for 12th in career games played in program history as both logged 107 games played across four seasons for the Owls. Pond scored 897 career points and netted 170 triples which placed seventh in program history. Gardner totaled 562 points in her collegiate career.
This recognition represents a significant achievement for both Pond and Gardner as they conclude their senior seasons with the Owls. Their dedication to maintaining high academic standards while contributing to the success of the women's basketball program demonstrates their exceptional commitment as student-athletes.
The CSC Academic All-District program separately recognizes women's basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Academic All-District honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot, with first-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees to be announced April 16, 2025.
