WESTFIELD, Mass. — Nathan Sylven (Wrentham, Mass.) finished 42nd to help propel Westfield State to finish 17th as a team in the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional meet on Saturday.
Sylven clocked in with a time of 25:57.7, a 12-second personal best for Sylven.
Sylven's performance will have him on the bubble to qualify as an individual for the NCAA Championships, pending the committee's team selections.
Westfield had two more finishers in the top-100 with John Nekitopoulos (West Springfield, Mass.) with a finish of 27:20.0 for 85th and Will Buckley (Plymouth, Mass.) with his finish of 27:45.1 was good for 99th overall. Jarrod Ledvina finished with a 25-second personal best time for the Owls.
Westfield State improved by one position as a team from a season ago as they finished 18 last fall in the NCAA Division III mideast meet.
RPI just edged out last year's winner Williams College for the team championship as all five of RPI's runners finished in the top ten. Roger Williams' Nathan Tassey finished first individually with a time 24:03.4 as he beat out Ephs' runner Charles Namiot by nearly eight seconds.
Westfield State wraps up its 2024 season, as the Owls finished in second place a couple weeks back at the MASCAC championships.
