Men’s Cross Country Competes at Keene State Invitational
Sophomore Nate Sylven (Wrentham, Mass.) led Westfield State with a 71st place finish as the Owls placed 16th out of 21 teams at the Keene State Invitational from Keene N.H. on Saturday morning and afternoon.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Sophomore Nate Sylven (Wrentham, Mass.) led Westfield State with a 71st place finish as the Owls placed 16th out of 21 teams at the Keene State Invitational from Keene N.H. on Saturday morning and afternoon.
The Owls were one of 21 teams to participate at the meet as a total of 237 athletes hit the 8k course.
Sylven earned a time of 27:33.90 for the Owls with senior Scott Porter (Boylston, Mass.) setting a 21-second personal-record, following two spots behind Sylven with a 73rd place mark at a time of 27:35.40.
Senior Jarrod Ledvina (Fairhaven, Mass.) was the third Owls player to cross the tape, placing 81st overall with a time of 27:42.50, setting his personal best time by 42 seconds while also besting his previous course record by 78 seconds.
Senior Will Buckley (Plymouth, Mass.) was fourth for the Owls with a finishing time of 27:44.50 for an 83rd place mark.
Williams College won the meet with a total of 15 points and placed the top nine runners in the meet. Eastern Connecticut (152 points) and Plymouth State (156 points) earned second and third respectively.
Westfield State will set their sights on next week as the Owls are set to host the James Earley Invitational on Saturday, October 12 beginning at 10:00 A.M.
