Brendon Hamilton '24 Signs to Play Professional Basketball in The Netherlands
Hamilton had a storied career with the Owls, as a four-year player who earned all-conference honors each season, including Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year honors in 2020, and defensive player of the year honors in 2023 and 2024.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State alumnus Brendon Hamilton '24 (Worcester, Mass. / Worcester Tech) recently signed to play professional basketball with Almonte Eindhoven in the Netherlands.
Hamilton is already overseas, and according to his agency recently scored 27 points in a game for Almonte, which plays in Competitie 2E Divisie MSE 2D 04.
Hamilton had a storied career with the Owls, as a four-year player who earned all-conference honors each season, including Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year honors in 2020, and defensive player of the year honors in 2023 and 2024.
He became just the second player in Owl basketball history to amass both 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds, and tied Matt Devine '13 for most games played at 108 while finishing second all-time in career rebounds (1,159), blocks (215), and blocks per game (1.99). On the offensive side of the ball, Hamilton is seventh in program history in field goals made (524), eighth in field goal percentage (52.2%) and 11th all-time in points (1,309).
Hamilton graduated from Westfield with a double-major in economics and finance and was working in banking before continuing his basketball career.
He was tabbed as Westfield State athletics' John Kurty Award winner on two occasions for his 4-year contributions to athletics, as his career bridged the pandemic and he stayed at Westfield for an additional year to complete the double major alongside his basketball eligibility.
Hamilton earned NABC all-district honors on two occasions and D3hoops.com All-Region honors twice, and was a candidate in the State Farm Dark Horse Dunker competition in conjunction with the NCAA Basketball Championships.
He helped the Owls to NCAA tournament appearances in 2020 and 2022 under head coach Rich Sutter, including a pair of 20 win seasons.
Hamilton's most notable performances included a 32-point, 22-rebound performance in a win over William Paterson and a 16-point and career-best 26-rebound performance in earning MASCAC Tournament MVP honors in a championship win over Worcester State in 2022.
Hamilton is the latest of a number of Owls players who have earned contracts to play overseas, including Devine (Portugal), Lee Vazquez (Puerto Rico), Jordan Santiago (Hungary), Jeremy Remigio (Dominican Republic), and JT Thompson (Morocco).
