Owls Field Hockey Draws #9 Shenandoah (Va.) University in NCAA 1st Round

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State University field hockey will hit the road – to Winchester, Va. to play national #9 Shenandoah University in the opening round of the 2024 NCAA Division III Tournament on Wednesday, Nov. 13 at 2:00 p.m.
The winner advances to a four-team regional pod at Williams (Mass.) College on Saturday and Sunday.
Westfield is currently 13-6 this season, setting a school record for wins in a season.
Westfield earned the MASCAC's automatic bid by winning the conference tournament title on Saturday, with a 2-1 win over Bridgewater State.
Shenandoah is 18-2 this season and earned an automatic bid by winning the Old Dominion Athletic Conference title with a 4-1 win over #13 Lynchburg on Saturday.
Twenty-eight teams were selected, 18 by virtue of automatic bids for winning their conference title, and 10 at large. The final four will be played at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia on Nov. 22 and 24.
The Owls are making just their second-ever appearance in the NCAA tournament. The Owls advanced to and hosted the 1981 NCAA Division III Final Four at Alumni Field, finishing third.
