WESTFIELD, Mass. — Westfield State junior Erin Lane (Canton, Mass.) earned league honors after a productive week for the Owls as she was named the MASCAC Offensive Player of the Week.
The Westfield State field hockey squad had a busy week, and in doing so, won all three of their games including two conference matchups with Lane standing out in all three contests.
Lane, a junior midfielder, was awarded the honors of Offensive Player of the Week after posting three goals while adding an assist in leading Westfield to 3-0 on the week.
Lane's big game of the week came in a close 3-2 victory over the Vikings of Salem State on the road. Lane netted a pair of goals, including the game winner in a penalty shootout to improve the Owls to 2-1 in the conference at the time.
Then on Saturday, as the Owls defended Alumni Field in an intraconference matchup against the Bridgewater State Bears, Lane showed up in a big way. Lane posted a goal and an assist for a stat line in a 4-0 shutout victory over the Bears.
Lane now has three goals on the year, boosting her to tenth in the MASCAC, and her eight total points this year places her eighth in the conference for the category.
Lane and the Owls will be back in action Saturday, October 12 at 3:30 p.m. back at Alumni Field for another conference matchup against the Rams of Fitchburg State.
