WESTFIELD, Mass. — Another Westfield State Athletics weekend is upon us as we see six Owls athletics teams compete on Saturday, September 28.
The Saturday slate kicks off on the road for a men's soccer match against Worcester State at 11 a.m. The Owls are 4-3-1 this season with a 1-0 record in MASCAC play. The Lancers come into the match with a 1-5 overall record. Nicholas Parakilas (East Windsor, Conn.) leads the Owls with ten points and is tied for second in the MASCAC.
At noon, women's soccer kicks off at home on Alumni Field against visiting Worcester State. The Lancers are 1-4-1 and 0-1 in conference play this season as the Owls are 4-3-2, 1-0 in conference play. Delaney Parker (Orange, Mass.) leads the MASCAC in shots (39), goals (8), and points (17) and looks to extend their win streak to four.
Women's volleyball (4-7) plays two non-conference matches on Saturday, first one against University of New England (9-2) and Bates College (6-2) in a tri-match at the University of New England in Biddeford, Maine. The Owls have won four of their last seven matches, and look to the freshman Sydney Cummins (Nicholasville, Tenn.) who is tied for fourth in total kills (77) and third in kills per set (2.33) in all of the MASCAC.
Westfield football visits Worcester State for their first road game of the year, kicking off at 2:30 at John Coughlin Memorial Field. The Owls are 1-1 in conference play and look to improve on that record this week. The full football preview can be found at WestfieldStateOwls.com.

Fitchburg also comes into this one 1-0 in conference play for what should be a key early-season MASCAC matchup. Kaleigh Murphy (Pembroke, Mass.) leads the MASCAC in goals (6) and points (14) and will look to help out in this conference matchup.
The golf team hosts the MASCAC championships at The Ranch Golf Club in Southwick on Saturday and Sunday. The Owls finished fifth last year and will look to improve this year, with newcomers Brett Gratz and Will Gangi coming off solid rounds at this week's Brett Williamson Invitational as Gratz fired a 76 and Gangi shot 79 to lead Westfield. Tee times for Saturday are here.
Westfield State's women's golf team will have their second match of the season, competing against Keene State at the Keene Country Club on Sunday.
