Shawna Crowley Named MASCAC Volleyball Player of the Week

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State senior outside hitter Shawna Crowley (Billerica, Mass.) was named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference women's volleyball player of the week for the week ending Oct. 23.
Crowley powered the Owls to a huge conference win on Wednesday with a 3-0 defeat of MCLA, which gave the Owls a share of a two-way tie atop the conference standings. Crowley pounded out 12 kills and came up with 17 digs in the win.
She added 16 kills and 19 digs in a tight, 3-2 non-conference loss at Rhode Island College on Saturday.
Crowley leads Westfield's balanced hitting attack in kills with 155 this season, and points with 185. She is second on the team in digs with 178.
She ranks fourth in the conference in kills and fifth in kills per set.
Westfield is now 10-11 overall and 5-1 in the MASCAC. The Owls have won four of their last five matches, and will finish up the regular season with a pair of matches at home, hosting Bay Path University on Thursday night, then rounding out the conference schedule with a match against Mass Maritime on Saturday.
