Owls Women's Track Competes at Harvard, Smith
From the Yankee Small College meet on the track three Owls finished first in their events.
WESTFIELD, Mass. — The Westfield State women's track and field team had two competitions today as one select group of athletes competed at the Harvard Invitational Meet and the Owls also competed at the Yankee Small College Invitational Meet.
From the Harvard Invitational Meet, in the women's 5,000 meter run Westfield had Shea Hamel (Longmeadow, Mass.) finish sixth and Julianne Kelly (Natick, Mass.) finished in seventh. In the women's 3,000 meter run, Owls runner Tealei Chandonnet (Dracut, Mass) finished in eighth.
Brynne LeCours (Haverhill, Mass.) finished fourth in the women's 1,000 meter run and finally Molly Kennedy (West Springfield) finished 13th in the women's mile.
From the Yankee Small College meet on the track three Owls finished first in their events, as Westfield State placed second among 12 scoring teams. Reese Stevens (Agawam, Mass.) finished in first place in the women's mile run with a time of 5:43.95. Jailene Felix (Westfield, Mass.) also etched her name into first place with a top finish in the women's 400-meter dash with a time of 1:04.31. The third and final first place finisher was Alison Downin (Hudson, Mass.) as she won the women's 3,000-meter run.
From the field two Westfield State athletes won in their field events. Emily Ottomaniello (Agawam, Mass.) finished top place in the women's high jump with a distance of 1.41 meters. Bronwyn Pinsly (Las Vegas, Nev.) finished first in the women's shot put with a distance of 10.64 meters.
