Women's Track Highlights From Coast Guard Invitational

WESTFIELD, Mass. — The Westfield State women's track and field showed a great performance at the Coast Guard Invite meet on Saturday afternoon.

On Saturday, eight Westfield State women's track and field athletes had personal bests or season bests in the meet.

From the track side, we saw numerous top-three finishes as well as a first place finish from Devin Whalen (Marblehead, Mass.) in the women's 55-meter hurdles. Rebecca Patel (Belchertown, Mass.) sported a second place finish in the women's 3000-meter run with a time of 11:48.61. Shea Hamel (Longmeadow, Mass.) had a second-place finish as well in the women's mile run with a time of 5:33.83.

Pivoting to the field, the Owls saw a first place finish in women's long jump from Eliza Lee (Walpole, Mass.) with a distance of 5.03 meters. Emily Ottomaniello (Agawam, Mass.)  placed third in women's triple jump with a distance of 8.82 meters.

The women's track and field team of Westfield State will travel to the Massasoit Invitational in Springfield, Mass. next Saturday, January 25.
