Women's Lacrosse Falls to Conn College

WESTFIELD, Mass. –    Connecticut College rattled off seven unanswered goals in the third quarter to break open a tight game as the Camels topped Westfield State, 15-11 in a non-conference women's lacrosse game at Alumni Field on Wednesday evening.

With the game tied at 7-7, the Camels scored seven goals in the final 6:46 of the third period to run out to a 14-7 lead.  Campbell Johnston tallied three goals in that span to fuel the big run.

The Owls finally answered with three straight goals of their own to open the fourth quarter, trimming the lead to 14-10 on a free position shot from Emma Cretella with 7:51 left, but could get no closer.

Cassidy Connolly led Westfield (3-3) with four goals, and Cretella added three goals and an assist. Goalkeeper Kara Banagan made 12 saves.

Conn College (4-2) was led by five goals from Emily Yorns and four from Johnston.  Goalkeeper Violette Nidds made 13 saves.

Westfield will host 19th-ranked Amherst College on Friday at 6 p.m. at Alumni Field.
