Sam Donohoe led Westfield State University with five goals, as the Owls dispatched preseason #20 Illinois Wesleyan by a 16-12 score at the SpringFling tournament in Englewood, Fla., on Monday night.

Westfield trailed 7-4 with 9:50 to play in the first half, goals from Donohoe, Cassidy Harvey, Hayley Rodriguez and Hayley Mate' gave Westfield an 8-7 lead at the half.

Harvey and Cassidy Connolly netted the first two goals of the second half to extend the Owls' lead to 10-7 less than five minutes into the second half, and Westfield's lead would never be less than two goals for the rest of the evening.

Harvey finished with five goals, while Rodriguez added two goals and an assist.

Sam Simonetty finished with six saves to earn the win in goal for Westfield.

Landry Elliot led the Spartans with six goals, with Maggie Torres adding two goals and three assists.  Jaynaye Godfrey made nine saves.

Westfield improves to 3-1 on the season, while IWU slips to 3-3.  Westfield will next face Carroll (Wisc). on Thursday.
