Bri Frongillo scored 28 points and handed out eight assists to lead Emerson College to a 96-73 women's basketball win over Westfield State in a non-conference game in Boston on Thursday night.
Westfield trailed by just three points, 25-22 after one quarter, but the Lions blew the game open in the second and third as the Owls went ice-cold shooting from the floor, connecting on just 11 of their next 46 shots and just two of 16 from long range in the two decisive periods.
Westfield (5-3) was led by 22 points from Olivia Hadla and 15 from Jordan Grant. Hadla topped the 1,200 point mark in her career, and Grant sits at 1,192, moving into 12th and 14th place respectively on the Owls all-time scoring list.
Maddie Pond added 10 points and Jess Gardner finished with eight points and team-high 11 rebounds.
Emerson (5-3) blistered the nets from long range, making 15 of 28 (53.6 pct.) of their three-pointers in the game.
Westfield is back in action at home on Saturday, hosting Emmanuel College in a noon start at the Woodward Center.
