Softball Places Seven on MASCAC All-Conference Teams; Joe Hough Named Coach of the Year

The Westfield State University softball team led all teams with five MASCAC All-Conference First-Team selections as a total of seven Owls were named to the league’s all-conference teams. Owls head coach Joe Hough was also named the BSN Sports Coach of the Year.

Janna Jose's 2-run double in the fifth inning proved the difference as Westfield rallied for an 8-7 win over Framingham State in the semifinals of the MASCAC softball tournament.  Westfield advances to tomorrow's championship game at noon.

Westfield State starting pitcher Katherine Canty (Natick, Mass.) tossed a 3-hit shutout and 1b Sarah Bingham (Reno, Nev.) socked a 2-run homerun to center field as the top seeded Owls blanked #4 Salem State, 5-0 in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference softball tournament game on Friday afternoon.

Westfield State softball swept Bridgewater State in a doubleheader by a score of 4-2 in each game, as the Owls claimed the 2024 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season title.
