Theroux Tabbed MASCAC Defensive Player of the Week
Westfield State sophomore goalkeeper Luke Theroux earned the MASCAC Defensive Player of the Week honors for the Owls.
WESTFIELD, Mass. –Family weekend came and went and left us with a Westfield state student athlete from men's soccer with Player of the Week honors in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference. Luke Theroux (Chicopee, mass.), the sophomore goalkeeper for the Owls, earned MASCAC Defensive Player of the Week honors in a 2-0 win Friday night.
Theroux and the Owls started off their family weekend festivities on Friday night with a men's soccer match against the visiting Buccaneers of Massachusetts Maritime Academy. Theroux notched his second shutout victory of the season on Friday. He made five saves on his way to secure the victory for the Owls.
On the year Theroux has collected 22 saves, placing his save percentage at .733, and improves his goals against average to a 1.60.
This is Theroux's second time this year earning the honors of Defensive Player of the Week in the MASCAC.
Theroux and the Owls will be back in action on the road Tuesday, September 24 at Plymouth State for a MASCAC conference game at 4 p.m.
