WESTFIELD, Mass. — Alumni Field at Westfield State is home to another weekend of NCAA Division III athletics. The Owls have a pair of matches at home this Saturday, October 5 as men's soccer plays MCLA at noon and field hockey plays Bridgewater State at 3 p.m.
The first game on the docket for Westfield state is a men's soccer match against the MCLA Trailblazers on Alumni field at noon. In their last 18 matchups, the Owls have a 10-4-4 record against the Trailblazers. Westfield is currently 1-0-1 in MASCAC play and will look to improve to 2-0-1 and stay undefeated in conference play with the help of Nicholas Parakilas (East Windsor, Conn.). Parakilas is tied for second in both goals (5) and points (10) in all of the MASCAC.
The other match is the field hockey between the Owls and the Bears of Bridgewater state at 3 p.m. on the turf. Westfield has won the last five matchups between the two conference opponents. The Owls own a 2-1 record in the MASCAC, with one loss suffered at the hands of Fitchburg State. Kaleigh Murphy (Pembroke, Mass.) currently is the leader in goals (8) and points (18) in the MASCAC while being second in shots (32).
Next weekend at Westfield State, five athletic teams have competitions as Volleyball starts Friday night against Framingham State. Saturday both the men's and women's cross country teams have a home meet, while men's soccer and field hockey both play Framingham State.
