Burnett Named MASCAC Player of the Week
Westfield State baseball captain Dan Burnett (Granville, Mass.) captured his first MASCAC Player of the Week honors of the 2025 season as he helped the Owls to a 4-1 week in Florida.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State baseball captain Dan Burnett (Granville, Mass.) captured his first MASCAC Player of the Week honors of the 2025 season as he helped the Owls to a 4-1 week in Florida.
Burnett posted a staggering .391 batting average in 23 at-bats, tallying nine hits including a double, triple, and three home runs. Burnett had his hand at 17 of the Owls 48 runs down south, as he knocked in nine RBI along with scoring eight times himself. Burnett had two homers in a 10-9 comeback win over Washington College along with a 3-for-5 appearance against Marywood as he had a double and triple, knocking in three runners.
Burnett currently leads the MASCAC in runs batted in with 16, and also leads the league in runs scored with 15. Burnett is second in home runs with five, only behind teammate Sam Palmer (Medfield, Mass.) who has six.
Burnett and the Owls take on Elms College in the home opener on Tuesday, March 18 with first pitch at 3:00 pm from Bud and Jim Hagan Field in Westfield, Mass.
