WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State senior forward Jordan Grant (Gray, Maine/Gray-New Gloucester) was named to the New England Women's Basketball Association's Division III team of the week.
Grant was a first team pick, highlighted for her efforts in the Puerto Rico Clasico on Dec. 29 and 30, where she led the Owls to a pair of wins over McMurry (Tex.) and Rochester (N.Y.).
Grant averaged 23 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.5 steals per game in the two-game set, and handed in a 24-point, seven-rebound, five-assist and five-steals performance, completing an old-fashioned 3-point play with 5.5 seconds left to lift Westfield to a 84-83 win over Rochester.
For the season, Grant is averaging 16.4 points per game, 5.7 rebounds and 2.2 steals per game.
Westfield in 7-7 on the season and 0-1 in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, where Grant was also named as the league's player of the week this week.
The Owls will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 6, hosting Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts at noon at the Woodward Center.
