Latona, Mancuso, Parker Earn Conference Honors

Westfield, Mass. – Westfield State field hockey forward Cheryl Latona (Granby, Conn.), men's soccer goalkeeper Emilio Mancuso (Ludlow, Mass.), and women's soccer forward Delaney Parker (Orange, Mass.) each received conference recognition this past week.

Latona earned the Little East Conference offensive player of the week after tallying three goals and an assist in a 2-0 week for the Owls. She scored two goals in a mid-week victory over Fitchburg State, 3-1, and opened the scoring in a double overtime win over Plymouth State, 3-2. She also recorded an assist on the second goal of the game. The two wins over conference opponents place Westfield State (4-2 in LEC) in the top five of the Little East Conference. On the season, Latona leads the team in goals (8) and points (18).

Mancuso secured the MASCAC player and rookie of the week after registering a nine save shut-out in a 1-0 victory over Mass. Maritime this past Friday. Mancuso has kept the Owls in many close games this season, posting a 1.81 goals against average in the eight games he has started this season.

Parker was also selected MASCAC player and rookie of the week on the women's side by scoring four goals and two assists in a 2-0 week for the Owls. Parker jumpstarted the offense this past Wednesday against Western New England, scoring the opening goal of the game and also tacking on an insurance goal in the Owls 3-1 win. She also scored the opening goal in an eventual rout of Mass. Maritime 7-0. The first-year forward notched another goal and assist in the victory. On the year, Parker is second in Division III in goals (19), while also adding six assists and 44 points.

Westfield State field hockey will visit UMass Dartmouth tonight at 7:00 P.M. while men's soccer will travel to Williams College Wednesday at 7:00 P.M. As for the women's soccer team, they will face-off against Bridgewater State on the road in a match-up between the top two teams in the conference on Saturday at noon.
