Parker Claims MASCAC Player, Rookie of the Week Honors
Accolades continue to roll in for Westfield State University first-year women’s soccer forward Delaney Parker
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Accolades continue to roll in for Westfield State University first-year women's soccer forward Delaney Parker (Orange, Mass./Mahar HS) as she was named the MASCAC's player of the week and rookie of the week for the week ending Sept. 26.
Parker netted her third hat trick of the season in a 4-3 win at Eastern Connecticut, which included the game winning goal late in regulation, then tacked on two more goals and two assists Westfield's 10-1 win over MCLA on Saturday. Parker assisted on the Owls first goal, then netted the second and third tallies for the Owls to take control of the match.
For the season, Parker has 13 goals and five assists for 31 points. She was tied for the national Division III lead in goals entering last weekend.
Her 13 goals are the 11th best single season total in Owls' history, with nearly half the season left to play.
Parker has been the league's rookie of the week all four weeks so far this season and this is the second time she has been selected as the player of the week.
Westfield, 5-3-1 overall and 2-0 in the MASCAC, will next face Smith College in a non-conference game on Wednesday, Sept. 29 at 7:00 p.m. on Alumni Field.
