Bingham, Clark, Grant Named WSU Female Athletes of the Year
Awarded to three senior female athletes that compiled outstanding seasons in their senior year.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State senior student-athletes Sarah Bingham (Reno, Nev.), Abby Clark (Uxbridge, Mass.), and Jordan Grant (Gray, Maine) were all selected as female athlete of the year honorees at the 2025 Westfield State athletic department annual awards ceremony on May 5.
Bingham, a two-sport athlete in women's volleyball and softball, helped guide both teams to conference regular season titles. In volleyball, Bingham and the Owls went a perfect 7-0 in regular season conference play, reaching the MASCAC Championship game. A middle blocker for the Owls, she led the league in hitting percentage (.278) and total blocks with 90 as her closest competitor in the league compiled 67 total blocks. She was named to the MASCAC All-Conference Second Team for her efforts as her versatility was evident as she also contributed 144 kills along with her defensive prowess. She totaled 255 total blocks in her career which is the third highest total in program history.
On the diamond, Bingham found equal success as she was a key piece in leading the Owls to a second consecutive MASCAC regular season title. She was named to the MASCAC All-Conference First Team at first base, setting the all-time program record for career home runs with 17 while hitting for a .339 average with 34 RBI. Bingham also played stellar defense at first base, posting a .990 fielding percentage, assisting in five double play turns.
Clark, a teammate of Bingham on the Owls softball team, was also a multi-sport athlete, serving as an instrumental player for field hockey in the team's run to a MASCAC Championship title and their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1981. Clark was named the MASCAC Tournament MVP for her effort in the team's late game victories over Worcester State in the semifinals then Bridgewater State in the title game. She earned a spot on the MASCAC All-Conference First Team as a midfielder, collecting four goals and five assists while patrolling the middle of the field and transitioning the Owls from defense to offense.
As an outfielder for the Owls softball team, Clark batted .333 with a .438 on-base percentage after drawing a team-high 17 walks. She registered 34 hits, 23 RBI, and hit a towering home run over the fence in right centerfield at Sullivan Field to provide one of the most memorable moments of the season.
Grant put together a strong season on the hardwood for the Owls women's basketball team, securing a spot on the MASCAC All-Conference First Team for the third time in her career while adding D3hoops.com All-Region honors to her career accolades as well. She averaged the second most points per game in the conference at 16.7 and led the league in field goal percentage at an even 50 percent. She was also sixth in the conference in rebounds per game (6.0) and blocks per game (0.9).
She totaled two 30-point outings this season with the second serving as a career high mark as she dropped 36 points (16-22 FG) and ten rebounds in an Owls 117-60 win over Fitchburg State.
Grant caps a sensational four-year career with 1,486 career points, ranking fifth all time at Westfield, and registers among the Owls' career leaders with 583 rebounds, 78 blocked shots and a 49.7 percent field goal percentage.
