Forrest Wins 10,000 As Owls Take Second at Corsair Classic

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State senior Tim Forrest won the 10,000 meters  on Saturday at the Corsair Classic track and field meet in North Dartmouth, Mass., leading the Owls to a second-place team finish at the team's first outdoor meet of the season.

Forrest ran 33:15.68 in his winning effort.

The Owls also scored well in the 800 meters, where Zac Bentley (2:01.57), Connor Gottzmann, Corey Pooler and Shea Hiltz ran 2-3-4-5 in the scoring.

Sophomore Mitch Maslowski (Berlin, Conn.) placed second in the 400 in 50.49 seconds.  William Canty took second place honors in the 110 high hurdles with a time of 16.53.   Maslowski, and Canty teamed with Dorian Johnson and Owen Ortiz to place second in the 4x100 relay in 43.44.

Bridgewater State won the meet with team score of 141, with the Owls totaling 109 among 20 scoring teams.

Westfield will travel to the Coast Guard Invitational next Saturday.  The Owls will host their traditional home meet, the Jerry Gravel Invitational, on April 13.
