Ranck, Men’s Track and Field Compete at Trinity Invitational

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State senior Colby Ranck (Chicopee, Mass.) posted a pair of top four finishes as the Owls men's track and field team placed tenth at the Trinity College Invitational on Saturday afternoon from Hartford, Conn.

Ranck placed third in the long jump in a field of 28 competitors, registering a leap of 6.20m. He also followed with a fourth-place distance in the triple jump at a mark of 12.85m.

Ali Warsame (Chelsea, Mass.) and Michael Pelletier (Wilbraham, Mass.) added sixth and seventh place in the triple jump as well, with Warsame (12.59m) slightly further than Pelletier (12.57m).

Sophomore Vincent Cirillo (Chicopee, Mass.) delivered a strong toss in the shot put, earning fifth with a distance of 12.92m. Cirillo also added eighth place in the discus throw, tossing a distance of 37.51m.

Micah Scott (Uxbridge, Mass.) finished top ten in the shot put as well with a mark of 12.31m. A total of 29 athletes competed in the event.

Dylan Clark (Bellows Falls, Vt.) continued the Owls solid outing in the field events, adding eighth place in the hammer throw with his top throw checking in at 38.63m.

Gordon Johnson (Hanson, Mass.) paced the Owls on the track as his 1:57.86 time in the 800m put him eighth overall on a list of 53 runners.

Colin Mahoney (Plainville, Mass.) recorded a top-ten time in the 400m, crossing the tape in 52.13 seconds for tenth in the event.

Springfield College won the meet overall, collecting 132 points followed by Trinity in second (93 points) and Hartford in third (92).

Westfield State will return back to Alumni Field and the Jerry Gravel Track as the Owls will host the MASCAC Championship meet on Friday.
