WESTFIELD MASS- Westfield State senior goaltender Thierry Messervier (Montreal, Quebec) was named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference men's ice hockey goalie of the week, as sponsored by Geico, for his performances this past week.

Messervier finished with a goals-against average of 0.96, a .973 save percentage with 73 saves for the Owls in a 1-0-1 week.

He had 38 saves in a 1-1 tie against Anna Maria College, as well as a 35-save performance against Fitchburg State in the Owls' 5-1 win.

Messervier now has 507 saves for the season, with a 2.41 goals-against average and a .934 save percentage, helping the Owls get to their overall 8-4-5 record.  Westfield is 6-2-2 and in second-place in the MASCAC.

Westfield takes the ice again on Thursday, January 30 at Framingham State at 7:30 p.m.
