Hurlburt, Paine Named WSU Female Athletes of the Year
The Owls' senior male and female athletes of the year are presented to the student-athletes judged to have had the best athletic performances in their senior-year season.
Softball Places Seven on MASCAC All-Conference Teams; Joe Hough Named Coach of the Year
The Westfield State University softball team led all teams with five MASCAC All-Conference First-Team selections as a total of seven Owls were named to the league’s all-conference teams. Owls head coach Joe Hough was also named the BSN Sports Coach of the Year.
Lapierre Named MASCAC Pitcher of the Year, Baseball Places Four on All-Conference Team
Westfield State senior pitcher Ryan Lapierre (Pittsfield, Mass.) was named the MASCAC Pitcher of the Year to headline four Owls selections to the 2024 MASCAC All-Conference Team as voted on by the eight coaches from around the league.
Egan, O'Brien Earn Senior Scholar Athlete Awards
Senior women’s golfer Kaitlyn Egan (Sutton, Mass./Grafton HS) and senior men’s soccer goalkeeper Collin O’Brien (Windsor Locks, Conn./Windsor Locks HS) were recently named as the Senior Scholar-Athletes of the Year by the Westfield State University athletic department.

Owls Softball Falls in MASCAC Tournament Final
Defending league champion Framingham State battled back through the elimination bracket to sweep a pair of games from top-seeded Westfield State by scores of 3-0 and 10-2 in the championship round of the 2024 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference softball championship at the Westfield State softball field on Sunday afternoon.
Owls Battle Dragons, Fall 13-9 in NCAA Tournament
Megan Bailey (Quincy, Mass.) paced the Westfield St. offense with four goals. Nataie DeMaio (Westwood, Mass.) scored twice, Lindsey Bohenko (Lowell, Mass.), Mykenzie Black (Hopedale, Mass.) and Mercedes Rossi (S. Burlington, Vt.) each netted a goal and Kiely Hafensteiner(Niskayuna, NY) collected three assists.
Baseball Clipped by Salem, 2-1 to End MASCAC Tournament Run
First-year starter Sean McNamara fired seven strong innings for Westfield, but the Owls were only able to score once against Salem pitching, falling 2-1 in a MASCAC Semifinal game on Saturday from Salem, Mass.
Owls advance to MASCAC Softball Championship Game
Janna Jose's 2-run double in the fifth inning proved the difference as Westfield rallied for an 8-7 win over Framingham State in the semifinals of the MASCAC softball tournament. Westfield advances to tomorrow's championship game at noon.
