WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State's Shea Hamel finished eighth in the individual standings to lead Westfield State to a fifth place finish at the 23-team Keene State Invitational Meet on Saturday.
Hamel covered the 5-kilometer course in a time of 19:13.9.
Brynne Lecours was next for Westfield in 19:33.8 in 17th place.
Wellesley College's Ella Whinney won the race with a time of 18:32.7, and led the Blue to the team title with a score of 80 points. Brandeis (83), Keene State (110), Mount Holyoke (141) preceded Westfield ((147) in the team standings.
Westfield will be back in action next Saturday, hosting the James Earley Invitational meet at Stanley Park. The meet will also be a preview for the NCAA Regional Championship meet, which Westfield will host on the same course in early November.
