Women's Cross Country 14th at UMass-Dartmouth Invitational

Shea Hamel topped the efforts for the Westfield State University women, placing 48th at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational meet on Sunday in North Darmouth, Mass.

Hamel skipped home in 19:07.49, a 21-second personal best time for the distance.  Brynne Lecours was next for Westfield State with a time of 19:33.7 in 72nd place., a one-minute PR. 

280 athletes and 37 teams completed the women's 5-kilometer varsity race, including four division I teams and 7 division II schools.    Westfield State placed 14th in the team scoring, and were fifth among the division III programs competing.

Division I programs Boston University and Stonehill took the top two spots at the meet, followed by D3 Conn College in third.

In the JV race the Owl women placed ninth.  Justine Pickard was the top owl in 48th place in a time of 22:06.51.

Westfield will compete next Saturday at the Keene State Invitational meet.
