Women’s Cross Country Places 12th at NCAA Mideast Regionals

WESTFIELD, Mass. – The Westfield State women's cross country team finished 12th overall out of 21 teams in the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional meet from St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y. on Saturday afternoon.

Mia McDonald (Westfield, Mass.) paced the Owls with a 59th place finish out of 159 runners, crossing the finish line at a time of 24:47.5.

First-year Shea Hamel (Longmeadow, Mass.), who was named the MASCAC Rookie of the Year after placing third at the conference championship meet, was three spots behind McDonald, finishing in 62nd place at a mark of 24:55.2.

Sophomore Ariann LeCours (Haverhill, Mass.) and first-year Julianne Kelly (Natick, Mass.) followed with placements of 74th (25:22.3) and 81st (25:43.8).

The Owls posted a score of 358 for the meet. Williams College as a team won the 6.05K race with 47 points as four of their five runners finished in the top ten. Morgan Lee from RPI won the individual honors, earning first place with a time of 22:10.9.
