WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State first-year Julianne Kelly (Natick, Mass.) was named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Runner and Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive week.

Kelly continued her impressive rookie campaign with a 34th place finish and a time of 25:05.8 at the Purple Valley Classic over the weekend. A total of 11 teams and 117 athletes participated in the race, which included nationally ranked competition in Amherst (8) and Williams (16).

In the two races prior to this past weekend, Kelly was the first Owls player to cross the finish line at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational while also finishing in the top five of runners at the Keene State Alumni Invitational at the beginning of the season.

As a team, the Owls have swept the weekly nominations through the first three weeks as first-year teammate Tealei Chandonnet (Dracut, Mass.) was recognized in week one.

Westfield State will host the James Earley Invitational from Stanley Park in Westfield, Mass. this upcoming Saturday.
