O’Sullivan, Johnson Receive MASCAC Honors

Westfield, Mass. – Westfield State women's cross country runners' Amy O'Sullivan (Greenfield, Mass.) and Kerin Johnson (Weymouth, Mass.) each earned MASCAC recognition this past weekend at the MASCAC Championship. O'Sullivan received the runner of the week, while Johnson was awarded rookie of the week.

O'Sullivan won the runner of the year honors after covering the 5k course with a time of 18:46 to finish a minute and 35 seconds ahead of the next closest competitor and lead the Owls to a first place team finish at the 2021 MASCAC Cross Country Championship in Devens, Mass.

Johnson ran the course at a time of 20:50, placing fifth in the in the 62-player field. She also joins O'Sullivan and senior Mia McDonald (Westfield, Mass.) on the MASCAC All-Conference team with the top ten finish.

O'Sullivan and Johnson helped carry the Owls to their second straight MASCAC championship and their 15th title in the last 17 seasons.

Next up for the Westfield State is the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional Meet which takes place on Saturday, November 13 at Harkness Park in Waterford, Conn.
